 A. Jones, Lee and Pujols up for Player of the Year

The three sluggers -- who finished first, second and third in the NL in home runs -- topped the ballots in mid-September when players on all 30 teams cast their votes under the supervision of accounting firm KPMG.

Already one of the game's top defensive center fielders, Jones' 51 homers led the Majors and highlighted a breakthrough offensive season.

Lee, in his first season with the Cubs, was considered a Triple Crown threat for most of the year and led the Majors with a .335 average to go with 46 home runs and 107 RBIs.

Pujols was outstanding across the board, as usual, with a .330 average, 41 homers and 117 RBIs.

Pujols is also a finalist for the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award, a designation recognizing performance and service both on and off the field. As spokesman for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis, Pujols dedicates much of his time to working with people affected by the condition.

Derek Jeter was nominated for the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award for his work with his "Turn 2 Foundation," which he established in his rookie season. Turn 2 encourages children to adopt healthy lifestyles and focus on academics and leadership development.

Mike Sweeney, the third finalist for the Marvin Miller Award, focused his off-field commitment toward helping children in the Kansas City area. He's involved with numerous local groups, including Children's Mercy Hospital, the Boys & Girls Club, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Youth Front.

Like the Player of the Year Award, players from both leagues vote for the Marvin Miller Award.

Winners of Players Choice Awards, which will be announced following the season, receive a grant from the Players Trust toward a charity of their choice.
